B&S Trumpet

I am new to this forum but was hoping someone could assist. I am looking to purchase a B&S trumpet from a private seller but wanted to know the date of manufacture. It is labeled as a B&S Markneukirchen, Klingenthal Model 138, serial number 990824.

please send me the information (perhaps a photo) about where on the instrument this serial number is located. However, I suspect I probably won't be able to help with such a high number.

Its located on the 2nd valve.

Hi Daniel,

that's what I thought. This is an internal number from valve manufacturing. Unfortunately, the year of manufacture can't be determined from this. Is there another number on the pickup? If not, then I really can't help; it's a stenciled product made in China for B&S.

Thank you for your help. The person said there wasnt another number. Has it been your experience that stenciled horns are more bad than good? There is not really a whole lot of information about stenciled B&S products.

unfortunately I can't compare the sound and other characteristics. I have never held or played with such a stencil.
