Can You Tell Me Anything About this ~1970's Hans Hoyer Horn?

Please see the attached pictures of my Hans Hoyer Double French Horn. The maker's mark reads "Meister Hans Hoyer," serial number #81651. I've been told the very plain Maker's Mark is unusual for a Hoyer horn.

My father was a fairly serious player (he got an MA in music), and I believe purchased this horn from the factory while studying abroad in Germany (this would've been in around the late 1970's). He passed a few years ago and I inherited it. I don't play myself, but my son (who already plays the trumpet) is beginning lessons.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me a bit about the horn - What does the serial number indicate? Was it handmade? Is it of good quality? Is it valuable? Any history to the company work knowing?

I know my father would be delighted to have a descendant playing it, so I'd love to learn anything you can share.

Hans Hoyer's Customer Service has replied and said that Serial Number appears to refer to a Trombone, not a horn. That and the unusual Maker's Mark seem to indicate this is either an unusual horn or some sort of fake. Any information anyone here could share would be very interesting to me!

I'm pretty sure this is a horn made by Hans Hoyer, or at least by someone close to him. Until around 1974, the serial numbers were stamped into the bell (in back!), and only then, as is still common practice today, into the leadpipe.

This serial number indicates 1973, so I can rule out in past a duplicate number being assigned to a trombone.

Rather, it is a horn that was not “officially” built, such deals have been made…….

The cheap engraving in this spot is completely unusual, it certainly never existed officially!
