I recently acquired this nice, old valved posthorn and was wondering if someone might have some insights into who made it or where it was made. There is no maker's mark on it, only an arrow on the leadpipe and the letter "B" also on the leadpipe. It does play in the key of Bb. Please see the attached photos. Any information would be most appreciated!
Thanks!
Jonathan

Re: Valved Posthorn
Hello Jonathan,
your instrument was made here in Markneukirchen, Saxony. Manufacturer was the company Max B. Martin, a large factory with the arrow as company logo.
Sincerely
Mario Weller

Thank you, Mario!
It was very puzzling to me what the arrow meant - now I know.
Best,
Jonathan

Mario,
Any idea when this might have been made?

Re: Valved Posthorn
Hello Jonathan,
the arrow was introduced 1897 and safely used until the 1940s. I appreciate your instrument between 1910 and 1920.
Greetings
Mario
